I carry it without taking it off!!! Now it's my favorite bag! It fits together: pencil case/wallet, water, phone and all the little things like keys, headphones. There are two pockets inside, one with a zipper (where a passport in its cover fits), and the other without anything, some small thing will fit there. The strap is not adjustable. It's of superb quality, very soft, I'm thinking about buying it in another color.
